Agios Sostis

Exploring Agios Sostis....

Water Village

A theme park covering 40,000 square metres, Water Village is one of Greece's biggest water parks. It is located 4 kilometres from the main town in the cute little village of Sarakinado. Adults and children can enjoy the attractions, such as family rafting, racing slides, the high-speed hydro tube, and Children's Tower. The facilities on offer include a fast food restaurant, Stone Bar, photo booth, gelateria, souvenir shop, and lockers.

Venetian Castle

Comprised of a variety of outbuildings, this ancient Venetian castle complex has a serene ambience. You’ll be able to take in the beautiful surroundings and look out onto the waterfront from the castle. Dating back to 1480, the timeworn structure sits at an elevated position and is enclosed by well-preserved land. This is a worthy visit if you like walking, nature, and archaeology.

Shipwreck Beach

You may have heard this local attraction being referred to as ‘Smuggler’s Cove’. It is a favourite of daredevil base jumpers and can be found on Navagio Beach. The exposed cove's main point of interest is the MV Panagiotis, which became the sunken wreck that we see today. There are rumours that the ship was used to secretly transport women, wine, and cigarettes.

Agios Sostis Beaches

If you don't want to be overwhelmed by modern tourist attractions and crowds of people, Agios Sostis beach is worth visiting. The water visibility is good, making this swimming and sunbathing spot equally as popular for snorkelling. Travel by car or on foot to nearby Zante beaches, such as Argassi, Laganas, and Alykes.

Local Cuisine

Make sure you have a big appetite when you arrive in Agios Sostis, because the people of Greece are generous with their portion sizes. Authentic Greek food comes in many forms and some of the preferred local food you can try in Zante include Gyros (rolled bread stuffed with various types of meat and vegetables), nut cakes like baklava, and the mouthwatering imported foreign cheeses.

Eating Out

Whether you are craving Zakynthos cuisine, Chinese fare, or sweet crepes, you will be spoiled for choice when you are dining in Agios Sostis. There are numerous recommended restaurants and if  you have room left after food, sip on Greek coffee, which is generally served with every meal.
