  • Transport and How to Get About in Corfu

Local Buses: There is a regular daytime bus service operated by KTEL, to and from Corfu Town to all the towns and villages around the island. The green buses are used for the services to the towns and villages and the blue buses operate the centre of Corfu Town and the outskirts. There are timetables posted up at the main bus stops in all the areas and at the main bus station in Town.  It is wise to be at the bus stops at least 10 minutes before departure time as the bus will not wait if it arrives a bit early.

Taxis: It is very easy to find a taxi in Corfu Town. There are taxi ranks at the main bus station, the Liston, and at San Rocco square. In all the villages you will also be able to find a local taxi. Always check the fare with the driver before you start your journey.

Car Hire: The Travel Corner's sister company, Excel Cars offer the best prices and the best cars. You must be at least 23 years of age and hold a full driving licence. The cars at Excel are all properly maintained, have fully comprehensive insurance and are regularly serviced for your utmost comfort and safety. Whilst driving please make yourself aware of speed signs and other traffic regulations. It is the law to wear seat belts. Unwisely, many people do not, but these days it is highly likely that the police will be just round the next bend and they regularly do spot checks. As in the UK, it is also illegal here to be using a mobile phone whilst driving.

  • Car Hire in Corfu

Car hire is highly recommended as a perfect way to see all of the beautiful island of Corfu at your own leisure and not as part of a group.  Our sister company Excel Cars have a wide choice of well-maintained, comfortable cars to offer.  They can be booked online, by email or by telephone or simply by popping into our local office in Kassiopi.  We can arrange for cars to be delivered to the airport  or port for pick-up or alternatively you can request the car to be delivered to your accommodation.

It is important to think carefully when deciding what sort of car you wish to hire as many of the roads, particularly in the northern part of the island, are windy and steep.  Therefore, at The Travel Corner we only hire out cars with high safety standards and, most importantly, fully comprehensive insurance.

When you make your car hire reservation with us,  instructions will be given to you regarding pickup of the vehicule. If you arrange to pick up your car at the airport you will be met by one of our representatives (unless alternative arrangements have been made), who will have all the necessary paperwork ready and ensures you spend as little time as possible waiting around in the arrivals area.  If, at the end of your holiday you are delivering the car back to the airport or port, you will be informed of the drop-off point.

  • Golf in Corfu

The Corfu Golf Club's beautiful course has been praised by many as one of golf's best kept secrets in Europe.  It has a reputation as being one of the 19 greatest championship courses in continental Europe.  Well-designed, the natural resources of the Ropa Valley have been blended with man-made hazards to create a course that is a good but fair test.

Tree-lined fairways and sandtraps combine with several lakes and meandering streams to make an attractive picture against a backdrop of high hills.  In recent years the course and clubhouse have undergone a renovation and bunkers have been reshaped, deepened and filled with white sand from the Greek island of Milos.  A modern irrigation system ensures the course maintains its perfect condition at all times.   From March till November there are blue skies and warm sunshine and during the hottest months between June and September there is often a cool breeze blowing in from the sea.

Golf is played throughout winter in Corfu and provides enjoyment for players of all categories.  The glowing reputation of the Corfu Golf Club is rapidly spreading as golfers from all over the world come to test their skills.

The clubhouse offers locker rooms and changing facilities.  There is a bar and lounge area with snooker and satellite tv.  There is also a well-priced restaurant and shop which is well-stocked with golfing items.  Outside there is a putting green and a large practice ground.  The course is open 7 days a week and golf bags and golf clubs can be hired.
